Our beloved sister, Aila Rose Lowney Camp passed away on July 28, 2020. She joyfully entered the world on February 26, 1953 as the first child born to Edward and Mary (Thompson) Lowney. Much to Aila's delight, she was soon joined by her siblings Doug, Shelly, Barbara, Patty, Audrea, and Ed. In June 1992, she found the love of her life, Jack Camp, and Jack was quickly welcomed into our family. They enjoyed many years together until Jack passed away in April of 2007.

Aila was a gifted educator who devoted her life to the education and development of thousands of elementary-aged children. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at Montana State University in Bozeman, and, while teaching on the Navajo Indian Reservation, she worked to earn her Master of Education at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. She began her teaching career in Heart Butte, Montana and went on to teach for the Department of Defense Schools in Arizona, Japan, and Virginia. She retired in 2013 and moved home to Butte to help care for our mom.

Aila is preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents Ed and Mary, her brother Doug, her brother-in-law Richard Wagner, her grandparents, and many cherished aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her siblings, Shelly (Jim) Fortune, Barbara Lowney, Patty (Dave) Marne, Audrea Wagner and Ed (Manda) Lowney. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews, Anne Rainey, Adam and Matt Lowney, Nicholas Fortune, Roshell Lee, Kirstin Gibson, David Marne, Heather Knutson, Rick and Brandon Wagner, Darby and Parker Lowney, and Macallan Box, as well as their spouses and children. She is also survived by her best friend and cousin, Linda Wayrynen Monaco, her only surviving auntie, Patricia Leskovar, and her loving cousins. She will also be missed by her many cherished friends around the world and at Big Sky Senior Living.

There will be a private funeral Mass on Thursday, July 30, 2020. Following the Mass, a private committal service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date when it is safe to do so.
