Agnes Jean Brothers, 90

January 23, 2032 – March 24, 2022

Agnes Jean Brothers passed away peacefully at St. James Healthcare in Butte, Montana. She joined her husband, Bill, on March 24, 2022. Born on January 23, 1932, Jean was the second of 4 siblings born to John and Christine (Popish) Cromrich. She grew up on the Parrot flat, attending the Jefferson school until the 6 ^th grade, the Emerson school through the 8 ^th grade and gradusting in 1950 from Butte High School. Jean was a member of the Butte High School majorettes, who led the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California.

She was an avid speed skater where she won many medals and in fact held the speed skating record at one time. Her skating took her to Canada to compete as well.

Jean met William Brothers in May of 1953 and married the following October sharing 49 years of marriage together. They purchased their ranch in Brown's Gulch and raised five children. Her home had many memories, always filled with laughter, music, and great company. The ranch raised show Quarter horses and cattle and Jean loved the ranching life and lived on the ranch independently until her passing.

In 1959, Jean and Bill formed a construction company and Jean assisted with various duties within the business. After retirement, her and Bill enjoyed many years of travel: Branson being a favorite, as was the Shiner's events.

Jean was a musician, beginning in the Butte High School orchestra playing the violin; to playing professionally in the Butte and Helena symphony for many years. Jean also played banjo, harp, and dobro.

She was the Queen of her Red Hat Society group which was fitting as you rarely seen her without a hat.

She volunteered as an usher at the Mother Lode for 20 years enjoying the performing arts and visiting with people in the community.

Jean joined the Copper Cloggers and danced at various events in Butte. She cherished her time with her clogging buddies and referred to it as her "fun time."

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Bill, infant son, her parents, John and Christine Cromrich, sister, Rose Leary, brother in laws John Leary, John Stajcar, and Jerry Brothers.

She is survived by her children, Kathy Brothers, Billy Brothers, (Janie), Randy Brothers, Kristi Brothers, Holly Hoffenbacker, (Bill). Grandchildren, Mariah Randall, (Beau), Brandon Hoffenbacker, Colton Hoffenbacker, (Hillary), Dustin Hoffenbacker (Kendrick) Lyndsey Hoffenbacker, Maci Kay Hoffenbacker, Travis Brothers (Corey), Amanda Brothers, John Brothers, Whitney Brothers. Great Grand Children: Ryen, Tristen, and Avery Brothers; Kaina Jean and Brooks Hoffenbacker.

Relatives: Family of sister Tina Stajcar, Pam and Rusty Olson and family, Ron and Susie Kenison and family and Missy and Hal Hoagland and family; and family of brother John Cromrich, family of brother-in-law Tods Brothers, family of sister -in-law Delores Brothers, family of sister Rose: her nieces, Michele and Danette being especially close to her.

Special friends: Jeff, Darlene and Justin Beckett, Kathleen and Larry Tuxell and the Brown's Gulch neighbors. Lastly, she leaves her loyal companion Jazz who was always by her side and dearly loved.

Jean had a strong constitution, fiercely independent, lived life intensively, and had a full and active life. She is unforgettable and will be greatly missed.

Friends may call on Thursday after 12:00 PM (noon) in St. Ann's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM. The Rite of Committal will follow at the Mausoleum in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
